Despite a 4-run deficit in the fourth inning, Deleon almost came all the way back, eventually falling 4-3 to Bangs on Monday. The Bearcats managed three runs in the failed comeback. Colton Smith, Kevin Yeager, and Mattson Locke powered the rally with RBIs.
The Bearcats couldn’t keep up with Bangs early in the game. Bangs scored on a fielder’s choice by Sanchez, a single by Bible, and a single by Arias in the first inning.
Bangs got on the board in the first inning. Sanchez hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Arias led the Bangs to victory on the mound. He allowed four hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one. Bible threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Bible recorded the last out to earn the save for Bangs.
Locke took the loss for Deleon. He surrendered four runs on four hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven.
Locke went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Bearcats in hits.
Kaleb Painter led Bangs with two hits in three at bats.
